I rescued 10 cories of different types from this kid who brought them out to me in essentially a cup of water. I've lost four of them so far; black, sterbae, panda, and aeneus. The others seem to be doing well, but I'm at a loss to why those died.
The kid's tank somehow cracked (at least that is what he told us) and needed to find a home for his fish. I think they may have been on their way out already when I got them.

Wow, that's terrible. I got two free albino aenus with a tank, and one had a gash in its stomach and died. Did the dead ones have any wounds or obvious signs of infection, etc.?

Nope, not a sign of anything. Just go into swim out of control crazily mode then die.

I'm thinking they experienced some sort of trauma (internal) or were badily stressed when they arrived to you. :(

Actually, swimming around crazily and dying sounds like maybe OTS to me.

Nope, tank is well maintained.
I don't do acronyms. Too many to keep up with for my job, so they all tend to run together.

i think he meant maybe they were suffering stress from coming to your tank from a tank which could have had OTS

Oh, that would make sense then. I could agree there, but I have no clue what the condition of the tank was as he brought the fish out to me.
It kills me to have to watch these little guys die off. Hopefully, no more do, but I'm skeptical.

Well, considering the condition they were in when he brought them to you, they probably do have OTS whether it's the thing killing them off or if it's just a contributing factor. I know how you feel about cories dying, such friendly little guys biting the dust is hard to watch :(
