I rescued 10 cories of different types from this kid who brought them out to me in essentially a cup of water. I've lost four of them so far; black, sterbae, panda, and aeneus. The others seem to be doing well, but I'm at a loss to why those died.

The kid's tank somehow cracked (at least that is what he told us) and needed to find a home for his fish. I think they may have been on their way out already when I got them.
 
Wow, that's terrible. I got two free albino aenus with a tank, and one had a gash in its stomach and died. Did the dead ones have any wounds or obvious signs of infection, etc.?
 
I'm thinking they experienced some sort of trauma (internal) or were badily stressed when they arrived to you. :(
 
Actually, swimming around crazily and dying sounds like maybe OTS to me.
