So I have been dieing to make a beautiful Dwarf Hairgrass carpet so I am going to make a 10g tank as sort of a place to experiment with it. I will have a DIY CO2 system in the tank and a good amount of light.
My question is what substrate will grow Dwarf Hairgrass the best?
How deep should the substrate be?
And What fertilizers will I need to grow the DH?

I would think eco-complete

really easy plant once its established. does fine with low light too. it would be a little hard with sand or with larger substrate.

Yeah, I was thinking eco-complete but I deep do I need to make it? I am only covering the bottom of a 10g tank so I am hoping to only need to buy one bag.

Any depth past ~.5" or so will suffice. People grow it on driftwood and rocks so its not real picky. I have some growing in a 2.5g w/ inert gravel and no heater under a 27w desk lamp and its doing well. Basically the higher tech the set up, the faster it grows.

according to the calculator, with one 20 pound bag, I can cover my tank with 1.8 inches of eco-complete. Will this be enough?
