I have a 125g. that im switching from FOWLR to reef. I am wanting to add a starfish and im not sure which is best for a reef tank. I want to make sure they wont eat me fish, corals, or shrimps, snails, and crabs. Are all brittles and serpants okay?? Which is the best to have for my situation?? How many can I put in a 125g ??
thanks!

The best starfish for reef tanks are ones that have smooth surfaces on the dorsal side of their body. Like Linkia, Fromia, Brittles, Serpents and such are fine for reefs (keep Brittles fed to ensure they don't go after small fish) while stars like Chocolate Chip, the African Red Knobby Star, Crown of Thorns, among many others are not reef safe and will destroy everything. So the general rule is smooth surface on top and they are reef safe. Depends what kind of Stars you want. I have a 120 Reef that only has a GBS (Green Brittle Star). Anyway, hope this helps and good luck.
