Now the hard part begins. My Australoheros n. sp. red ceibal "Centurion" would spawn all the time, but they'd get bored with the babies, eat them, then spawn again. I lost both my females, so lone male is in a tank by himself. Good luck.
Kensfish.com has golden pearls which is an amazing fry food. You'll need the smallest size and a medium size for Australoheros fry to grow them out.

Congrats on the spawn, I just found a small clutch of eggs on top of a powerhead in the growout tank last night. No danger of the fry surviving in that tank long enough for the parents to eat them out of boredom though...
I raised them on microworms and (finely ground) flakes and NLS pellets until they were big enough for NLS Grow pellets.

Congratulations, Pearl. That male is very stunning -- beautiful coloration. I have a question though, am I suppose to be able to see the fry in the pics? Or are the photos of the parent(s) guarding their dug-out cave? :) A lot of people's cichlids are breeding lately; love must be in the air. :)

You won't regret keeping these beauties. They're wonderful fish.

Thanks, Stargazer. And no, you can't see the fry in those pictures. They just emerged from under their dug-out cave about fifteen minutes ago. Give me a few minutes and I'll post more pictures!
Here's some pictures of the fry.

Awww...thank you so much for sharing those new photos, Pearl. That's just precious. :) I hope the parents do a great job of raising the fry and hopefully in a few weeks, you will have some great looking juveniles.
P.S. Are those lupines in your avatar? I've been a long time fan of lupines since I read "Miss Rumphius" by Barbara Cooney as a child. The imagery and illustrations in the book still remain vivid in my mind. I've tried to grow lupines for many years and it's been an absolute fail. :)
Thanks, Stargazer. You're so kind. And yes, those are lupines. Finding the right spot for lupines can be difficult, but once you do they'll grow like weeds.
