he's about 6 inches very cool my other two jacks are smaller but very interested in him or her

thats another thing is it a boy or girl

that is definately a very nice looking jack, I would have to say that it is a male judging by the stout body and the irredescient blue markings that transcend around the entire face.

I'd say by the dorsal fin (pointed at the end) its a male.

I'm almost 100% sure that is a female. Run4cuvr got it, but got it backwards.

Female jack dempsey's are more stout, have more color on the lower half of the gill plates and stay a bit smaller than males. The dorsal fin really isn't very pointed, on good male specimins (sp?) they can extend past the caudal fin.

I agree, deffinetly a female. Looks just like mine. A real nice female at that.
