How soon can I set up my refugium?

So I'm cycling my 54gal corner reef set up and would like to know: would it be beneficial to set up my refugium to help with the cycling of the tank or wait till the cycling is over?

Well, macroalgae will appreciate some of the ammonium produced, but I wouldn't add anything other than that in the meantime. Ideally, you want as many other organisms as possible to survive, especially in a refugium, so save those for after the cycling period.

Not yet.... just let it cycle man. Patience Daniel-san. Those critters are sensitive...the cycle will kill them.

There are stickies about cycling ....please do read up on marine cycling ...the process is hard to time....general advise is month wait.....(i stress general).

no dont.. your in the second phase of your cycle.. the trites should go away on thier own soon.

I have to disagree here. IME, you can do a water change whenever it is necessary, even during a cycle. It will not cause a problem or hinder the cycle itself. If anything, it will ensure that more organisms will survive the whole process (if you already have live rock, etc.).

O.k. so my nitrites are down by half now so all is going to plan I guess!
