I have a 10g tank that I'd like to put something in other than fish! Obviously, a turtle is a big time no-no. Do you have any suggestions? I thought having a planted tank would be neat, but I'm not sure. Newts? frogs?

Or perhaps something that isnt aquatic instead?

Depends, do you want an aquatic species or land dwelling one?

Fire Bellied Toads (2 do fine in a 10g), Wood Frogs are very easy and undemanding and are cheap lol.

For water or land?

Well Fire Bellied Toads are great starters. (land and water)
Whites Tree frogs are good, need high humidity (land)
African clawed frogs, African Dwarfs- ACF's get huge, ADF's are small (fully aquatic)
