I put my BN pleco and betta in a temporary 10 gallon holding tank because I bought a rhapiodon vulpinus for their tank and didn't think it would be a safe mix.

I have a broken pipe and hollow car decoration in the tank and blue gravel. I haven't seen my pleco in a while so I put an algae wafer in the tank last night and this morning it was still there. I took out all the decorations and he is not in them. I checked very thoroughly and saw nothing in them. He is not in the tank, not in the filter, I have no idea where he is. The tank is on the bottom on a microwave cart with a guppy tank on the top. There is a back, so he isn't behind it and there are two sides too so he could have only gone forward if he got out, but I don't see him. I have a plastic lid on the tank too.

He was as big as the betta so he wasn't eaten. Can plecos even escape from tanks? Where could mine have gone?

Look around in your decorations and around your tank. Anything could have happen. I suspect he's hiding in your decoration.

I only have two, the first one is just like a hollow bowl on the inside and I didn't see him in it. In the broken pipe decoration I took it out to look really closely and saw nothing and he didn't scurry out. I looked in the narrow section where he could have been stuck, but there was nothing.

When i thought my pleco was gone, I checked in a hollow log. Plecos have a tendency to "hang on" whether or not they are in water. I took the log out and sure enough he was in their, but was hanging on inside. I wouldn't worry too much. He will turn up
