I found a small (too small to take a pic of) polyp. its reddish, with long (compared to body) sweepers. Can anyone ID it for me?

OK i cant take a pic, still to small, but it does appear to be an aiptasia anemone. It got bigger though, will be a danger to my fish?

Not a danger to your fish unless it gets big. Best to get rid of it though and any of Fred's little friends too because they will spread if left unchecked. Joe's Juice, AptasiaX, lemon juice or boiling water in a syringe, kalk paste are all things that people use to kill them off. Ideally you either smother the mouth with the solution or you inject them. Injecting can be difficult because as soon as the nem feels threatened it will retract into the rock. Aptasia are just part of the hobby. I seem to have 1 or two pop up now and then and I just hit them with JJ. Not a big deal.

1. Doubt it and if it did it would have to be big enough.
2. Maybe but they are fairly resilient. Chances are you'll end up with an infestation.
My advice, kill it!

+1 kill the sucker now
1ml of lemon juice works wonders if you stab it right into the mouth..also a brown cloud will appear if its dead
Kill the aiptasia. Clowns will not host in it and all it will do is spread and kill coral. IMO get a peppermint shrimp or two. They will kill it, keep no more fro
coming back and are the best 5 bucks to spend on something

Thanks all. I have no corals, and will kill it soon, just need to get some lemon juice and a syringe... Can i just pull it off?
For the peppermint shrimp, will it hurt anything else in the tank? Like fish, coral, hermits?
