Since I put on my power compacts... my tank has been growing brown algae like its a factory. Do snails feed on that kind of algae?? Anyways if they don't would there be a problem with 20 of them in a 29... I have a book "Reef Secerets" it's a great book and they said some people put in a snail per gallon... but that seems like ALOT of snails. Thanks. I also found a baby maroon clown and I'm wondering if the on I have would attack that one like the other one... 1" with a 3" I have to talk to the store to see if they would think its a good idea... I already took back the one clown becuase I was nervous.

The clown strategy should work. A very small clown that has been living in a group is likely to be undifferentiated. In some cases, it's a good idea to physically separate the clowns but allow them to see each other. Putting the small one in a net breeder is supposed to work. Allowsthem to get used t each other, but the big one can't physically get to the little one.
I almost a snail/gallon in my tank. That's a combination of astreas, ceriths and strombus. It seems about right

I'm going to get 10 snails tonight... i also bought a small clown fish, the big one is chasing the little one now... but i'll buy a hang on box so they can see eachother, maybe for a few days. Thanks for the help!

wastememphis, what does your current clean up crew consist of?
If you don't have any snails at the moment i would recommend about 13 Mexican Turbo Snails or Margarita Snails, as both of them are huge algae eaters. HTH
