I just lost 3 goldfish to columnaris and suspected gill flukes. The tank was planted with fluorite substrate. I removed all the plants during treatment, however, I didn't remove the substrate.

Sure I take apart the tank and sanitize everything before starting with new fish? Is it possible to sanitize the fluorite or should I throw it out?

Thanks.

I would not throw out flourite nor sanitize the well establihsed tank as pathogens probably will find the way into tank once you add any livetock.

Let's keep BB going by adding small amt of food in the back of filter cartridges.

If you suspect gill fluke, you can minimize such bb vacuuming gravel thoroughly when performing water changes and pathogenic bacteria will decrease with time without any host (fish).

I would only perform complete changes and/or sanitize/clean when any toxic substances somehow got into tank (very very rare).
