Well I said once I experienced my first online fish buy I would post about it. I ordered from Bluegrassaquatics.com and I got the fish yesterday. I ordered 5 yellow tail acei and 5 met. msobo. I was called a few weeks ago and told they were out of yellow tails and I would be getting white tails instead. I was fine with either though I had heard white tail females were very drab. When I opened the box I was surprised to see 5 yellow tail acei that are all close to 3" in size. 2 of them are pretty beat up but all of them are very dark and have nice yellow fins. They are active and eating well, my lone female yellow tail acei seems relieved to have more of her kind. She's been alone since her fellow acei were killed by disease. I had forgotten how much acei swim together and seem so carefree!
On to the msobo, also a surprise here. I got 6 instead of 5
Gotta love freebies! Justinf67 had warned me about Blue grass' msobos but I took the risk. None of the msobos I got have the black markings on them that his did. One of the acei did have some black on it's face but once they darkened up I can't tell which one it is. The msobos are a little on the small size but are fine the the tank. They are around 2" long. Some of them are starting to show some blue. I'm really excited to see the males go through the color change process.
The overall experience: I got great looking healthy fish and exactly the species I wanted. The downsize is that it took a long time to ship (mostly due to weather) and the shipping was pretty expensive. Would I do it again? Not unless it was something pretty rare. I'm looking into getting a Tang eel in the future which I will most likely have to get online.
