I'm trying to pick out tetras for two of my tanks.

Tank #1: 75G with shy cichlids/cories
4 Keyholes
4 Geos Pindare
2 Nannacara Taenia
Shoal of sterbai cories
Light-colored sand substrate

Tank #2: 29G dwarfs
2 Bolivian Rams
1 Apisto sp. "Steel Blue"
Eco-Complete substrate

I have 6 black neons that could go in either tank. They are currently in the 75G, but I'm really thinking that the 75G needs a colorful school to really make it shine. Perhaps the black neons (which I do like) would be more dramatic if there were more of them. However, I'm thinking that the black neons might look really nice in the 29G which has dark substrate and which is probably more heavily planted.

Here are some possibilities I have considered for the 75G:

Cardinals
Rummynose (though my pH is on the high side of neutral- 7.4 or so, so they may not be as colorful)
Glowlights

I have a school of Columbians in one of my other tanks already. I love them, but I'd like a different species for each of my tanks.

Thanks!

What about some Buenos Aires Tetras? I have them with my JD and they are very active.

I would go with the rummnynose! They will still look great, even at a slightly high pH.

My PH stays around 7.6 and my rummy nose seem happy and their noses are almost as bright as my cardinal's red bellies. I have both in my 60 and like the cardinals for the color and the rummy for the action. They are fairly tight, fast schoolers.

Petsmart currently has a sale on tetras. 5/$5. As many as you want. Sale goes through middle of March.

I just took advantage of this deal. At my local store they had Neons, Cardinals, Black Skirts, Lampeyes, Buenos Aires, and even Silver Dollars for $1 each.

I picked up 2 some more (all they had left) Buenos Aires for my current school of 6 and then 3 Silver Dollars. If the SD's dont work out I will take them back and get some more BAT's.
