Power Strips w/ Built In Timers

I had heard that the power strips with built in timers were dangerous, though the posts I saw were a couple of years old. Does anyone know anything about this? I'd prefer not to burn my house down.

I have had the coralife digital one for about 5 years now and still working to this day. I think it is one of those things that 2 out of 2 million people had a problem (which was a very bad problem/house burning down!) but it got blown way out of proportion as to how often it happens and if it really was the fault of the power strip or something external (water got on the powerstrip) that caused the fires. I think if it really was an issue a lot more people would have chimed in with personal experiences and not just keep quoting the 2 famous stories out there about them.
