Ok, so my tank is 100g long made by aqua one (aquagrande150) .. The overhead trickle filter seemed to be doing a decent job until recently (more fish/plants over time) I'm wondering if anyone else has this kind of filtration, and if it met your/fishy standards!!

The water is never as clear as my other tank which has a Fluval 4+ internal power filter, mind you, it is a lot smaller!

Here are some pics of the filtration unit

From Powerhead, rated at ~550gph:

Amount of filtering depends on the amount of fish. Of course big tanks usually have more or bigger fish, so they need more filtering.

Generally built in filters are pretty basic, enough to get by, not not ideal.

For a 100gal tank I would be looking at adding an extra filter, maybe a small external cannister. It doesn't need to be rated to filter 100gal, as you will be adding it to the existing filtering.

The filter pad appears to be near micron and will continue turning brown even with additional filtration.

I believe additional filtration is appropriate as in my 110G tank I have micron filtration and several cubic feet of bioballs, ceramic rings and sintered glass.
