Fluval Surface Skimmer

I'm having problems getting the surface skimmer to work properly, does anyone know how to get it working properly?
The fluval is running properly, but the skimmer doesn't seem to be doing any "skimming".

If its like the one I use, you have to adjust it to the desired amount of skimming. You turn the handle sticking out the top to the left until it starts to skim to the level you want. You may have to turn it a lot of turns to get it to actually skim. Try turning the lever/stick to left until it stops and it should pull the entire clear skimmer peice down into the black peice. Then turn it to the right until it pops back up and is skimming how you want it to. Report back if this does not work.
