Hey everyone. It's been a long time since I've posted, but my gourami seems to be in trouble... I got him about three weeks ago and he was pretty shy just hanging out around the bottom cover. Then about a week ago he became fascinated with the filter intake just sitting there right in front of it with his mouth about an 1/8 inch away and would only leave it for food. And then today I came home to find him swimming frantically around the tank both crooked and semi-vertical while gasping. The other fish are all behaving normally.

The tank is a 20g hex with a Penguin 150. Ammonia is in check, but I can't tell you what the other parameters are because my kit is elsewhere. I'm thinking its a swim bladder thing, but I'm really not sure.

Any thoughts?

Find the other kits and start testing. I'm not sure about the swim bladder thing, but hopefully someone with alot more knowledge can help you. Good Luck.

Try feeding him small bits of cooked pea, that should fix swim bladder disorder. make sure you de-shell.

a 20% water change wouldn't hurt either...?

Thanks for the tips. Unfortunately, I came home Sunday to find him dead.

I just have really bad luck with gouramis.
