Is there any type of media that you can run in a filter that will raise GH the way crushed coral would raise KH and pH? I'm curious to know if there is an alternative to mixing a buffer recipe at every water change. I really don't use anything in any of my tanks, but I was just pondering ideas.

Well, I don't need to use it; but some people use Epsom salt to raise the GH.

Yep, epsom salt (magnesium sulfate) will do it, but I'm not sure if there is some media out there that will also do it.

Yeah, I knew epsom salt does it, I actually just used it along with metronidizole to treat for bloat. I did check the GH in the tank and it had increased by double. I'm more interested in knowing if there is something that gives off the effect over time. Maybe a large solid chunk of epsom salt!

A chunk of limestone will do it (but will also raise PH and KH too).

Like Kalkwasser (available at LFS).
