Any hints/tips on a Green Moray - Gymnothorax funebris?
My friend wants to try one in a 30 gal tank that is proper sealed off, and he has had eels before....will it work...or be like the Hindenburgh?

No it will not work. These eels get 6 feet long and are one of the nastiest eels available in the trade. They eat fish and will need a 180 when adult with no tankmates except maybe other very large eels as they are natural fish eaters in the wild. Hope this helps and tell your friend not to do it.

Rhetorical question....more of an opinion...what eel looks the coolest for a 30 gal?

Depends on the experience level. Ribbons are one of the most gorgeous eels but are very difficult fish. IMO my fav of the smaller ones is the Chainlink, but they will still get 3" so IMO too large for a 30. I would go with a Goldentail Eel. They are pretty and stay smaller. Anyway, hope this helps.

Moray Eels in general get quit large and eat alot, snowflake Morays get to 3-4', so in a 30gl aquarium you can have nothing but the Eel, anything smaller will get eaten. Also large eels are strong, a 3-4" eel can move around 15-20lbs rocks (i actually saw a 4' Snowflake move 15lbs lava rocks around looking for food)
