My tank is now showing signs of "brown algae" on some artificial plants and ornaments.

I've nevr heard of brown algae. How bad is it?

Brown algae is really diatoms. It's realtively harmless and is easy to remove. Most new tanks go through a period of brown algae. Depending on what fish you have in there, the best way to combat brown algae is with a couple of otocinclus.

really? maybe mine is just retarded there. I have a nice growth of algae on the back wall of my tank that my chinese algae eater wont' touch. He's too busy occupying himself with the clean, algae free walls.

my fish is an idiot.
