the first 2 looks the same to me and the last one is just homemade you can copy that design, the protien skimmer is more suited for saltwater. have you looked into the emperor 400 filters? 2 would be all you needed for your 125, will cost less than the wetdry setup, be easier to use and has wet/dry biowheels.

I just changed from a Marineland Penguin 170 to an Emperor 280 on my 36 gallon and I'm hooked on Emperor. Much larger area for filter media, spray bar to control bio-wheel speed and adjustable waterflow. I have a Penguin 330 on my 55 gallon and wish I'd gotten the Emperor 400. It looks like a much better filter. I've only had experience with a very cheap whisper which I didn't care much for. Other than that I'm a rookie. Kyle

For what its worth..i use 2 aquaclear 300's on my 55 and it stays sparkling clear...my 100 gallon(when it was up and running and soon will be again!) i use 2 AC 500s and i couldnt be happier. Their cheap at fostersmiths too...i think like 30 bucks each.
