Crap! I went down to check on my tanks...found dead tiger shrimps in the tank with my juvenille oto's! Almost all of them ... dead! I immediately turned on the air stone. No water ready to do a water change. Think I'm gonna loose them all. I found two that at this moment looked ok. One female that was berried looks on her way out. I snatched her out and just dumped her in the tank with the CRS. I don't know if she'll pull through or not but this is her best hope.
Dang.... I'm pissed! Water won't be ready for a water change til tomorrow. Not sure what the heck is going on. All the Oto's are just fine.
GRRRRRRRRR :angryfire::mad::wall:

do you have any water contitioner? if there is any ammonia, prime would help. not to jump on you, but it is always a good idea to keep some prime or stress coat around.
hope everything goes alright

Awww, James, that is dreadful. But please, if you figure out what caused this let us know. I'm looking at getting tigers before long and would greatly appreciate knowing what unexpected awfulness might creep up unexpectedly like this.
Hope the berried girl makes it...

It's a good news bad news situation....
First the good news...I checked on the berried female with the CRS's and she's alive. When I got my hand near her, she jumped back on to another leaf. Didn't want to add any more stress to her so just left her alone. She seems pretty lively.
Now the bad...Tigers aren't compatible with CRS. Hmmmm....now to figure how long I can leave her in there.
Back in her own tank...the bad news there is I did find another dead tiger. The good news is..I found another berried female.
Getting ready to start my water changes for the day. Wondering if I should move the other female as a precaution.

I think she is fully recovered now. She's grazing right along with the CRS. I have two options to consider now:
1) Move her back to the original tank. Performed a 20% water change yesterday. Still found three tigers over there and one of them is berried as well. The only catch is not knowing what caused the kill off.
2) Move her to the Oto tank where there are a few yellows.
I think I can go a few more days and see what happens with the original tank. What ever it was only affected the shrimp. No fishies were bothered and have shown no sign of distress.
It's been my experience that mysterious death problems don't readily resolve themselves and usually take more than a 20% water change to fix. I'd move her somewhere known to be safe as long as the water parameters are similar until you're sure the remaining tigers are okay.

Well..i did find another male dead yesterday. So I made the decision to move the remaining tigers over to the Oto tank. It also contains Yellow's but they will be fine together. I moved a berried female over and a smaller one. Funny thing though, I found another male in the original tank. I tried to get him but he wasn't budging. He has staked out his territory in the huge java fern. No way could I get him. Hope he makes it. I'll keep checking on him and if I find him out of the fern, I'll go after him.
The two I moved over so far seem ok <knocks on simulated wood>. I found them foraging around. Hard to find in there. They are so small compared to the Yellows.
Back in the CRS tank, the female there is still doing well. Looks like she dumped her eggs though. Best I could tell is that she is still holding on to one. I don't think she's had them long enough to develop. It is around 30 days correct? I will try and relocate her over to the Oto tank as well.
So I guess now I'll have to be concerned if they will bother any Oto eggs in the tank. I don't believe the Yellow's have ever ate any but not sure if Tigers will.
