I've seen many different apparatus used to deploy lettuce and other leaves to the bottom of the aquarium for feeding. Tonight, I discovered something simple that really works. All you need is two pieces of 1/2" pvc pipe about 4-6" long and either a 45 or 90 elbow fitting. You don't need pvc cement and don't bother with it even if you think you might. Stick the two pieces of pipe into the fitting. That's it, that simple.
Now, to use it stick the stalks of the lettuce, collard greens, or whatever other leafy stalked vegetable into the ends of the pipes. Drop in the tank. PVC sinks, so it'll put your leaves on display for your fish right where you want them.
Collard greens are high in calcium and better nutritionally than lettuce. I found that on MsJ's list of veggies and fruits for snails.
I love my Briggs! I have ivories and purple striped! I lost my wild and two ivories to my Aquaclear 110. Oopsie! Snails and suction don't do well.
I have red ramshorns too though they're a bit white striped. I think they were lacking something in the way of nutrition. Hopefully, they'll get after the collard greens.
I'm such a snail noob! Never gave them much though before and now I love them.
If anyone has any other colors or types of snails they have extra of, I'd be glad to pay shipping. If or when my briggs start doing the baby thing, I'll be more than happy to return the favor.
