Just thought I'd share a bit of info with the newbies.

I, myself am a newbie.
I've had a tank for about 6 months, and have gained a wealth of knowledge from this forum.

Recently, my tank has become VERY cloudy. It's been this way for the past 5 weeks. Nothing cleared it up.
I put two filters, changed this, cleaned that....nothing worked.
Water reading were OK throughout my dilema.

The ONLY thing I over-looked, were the hoses that lead to and from the Fluval canister filter. Today, I took them off and ran a long brush through it, follow by a stream of water. What came out of the hoses almost made my wife vomit!
Needless to say, they were filthy.

It took all but 4 hours later, for my tank to clear up, after being cloudy for so long.

Why did Fluval use those ribbed hoses instead of smooth hoses?????

Probably so that they could use thinner plastic and save money in the long run. In the end we get a crappier product and they recieve higher profits.

I learned quick that I had to clean them hoses. I've replaced my hoses more than a few times too because of kinks that develop. Clear vinyl hose is what I use.
