So I bought a $15 Betta, lost the receipt and the store refuses to take it back.
It got ick so I separated it and now it looks like hell. I don't think he eats.

Anyone know how to get around the Petco return policy???!!

You could always try treating him so he doesn't die... salt and elevated temperature...

I did try to treat for about 3 days, today when I came home from work he was so DOA looking, I let him free in the main tank. He is hiding in the plants.
I used quick cure and the temps are about 76/77F. I put him in a large net in the same tank, so he isnt really divided. Seemed to stress him out more being confined.
I can't use any salt, my plants start to die like crazy.

i work at petco and you can ask to talk to the manger and see if they are willing to exchange it. it really depend on the person working i have exchanged fish with out a receipt. if that fails just start to raising hell and threaten to call corporate.

ok, first of all i don't mean to sound like i'm chastising, but any new fish you bring home should be quarantined for at least 4 weeks in a seperate tank from your main tank. your other fish in the tank you put the betta in have now been exposed to the ich parasite and treating a large tank as opposed to 1 fish in a small qt tank is a pain in the tookus and costs more and the potential loss of all your fish hangs on the line as well.

My LFS has one that goes (inside to outside) from deep red to bright to dark purple to stark white , for $7. If I had the room I'd buy him in a NY second. May need to get a 3gal desk setup for work and buy 'em quick :thm:

if you used a card, they should have a record of the transaction. if you used cash that's a different story...good luck
