Ok We were cleaning out under the house and i found a very good 15G tank so i am going to set it up. I was wondering what some nice fish would be?? Like schooling to cilchid or whatever you think. I want to set up a sandy substrate with a good variety of plants.

In my 15g i have a male ram,6 cardinals, 1 clown pleco, 6 amano shirmp ,3 cherry shrimp(that i never see so i dont' know if they are still there), I also have 2 Bristlenose pleco growing out, right now they are only 1-2" and are going ot be moved to another tank. Its also fairly heavily planted, with clay pot caves and driftwood.

I might be able to post a pic later on.

Edit: Here is that tank pic

I have sand in all my tanks and haven't ever experienced any problems.

I think that's only if the sand is deep and gets compacted or something.

sand is good. i use it in almost all of my tanks...i find it easier to to clean, actually, and i definitely think it looks better. my plants also like it. the only caution: you should keep it no deeper than 2" lest you risk the deadly anaerobic pocket predicament. but that shouldn't be a problem.

What does this mean?? My LFS said not to use the stuff even tho i really wanted it in my 125G, the buggers. Anyways i will use it in my 15. I am thinking about 8neons, 3 corydoras, 1 betta. How does that sound??

Sand will be perfectly fine, but i wouldnt use no more than 1 1/2 inch layer or so...supposably these highly toxic gas pockets can form and can potnetially kill your fish if they are released into your water....anyways, i use sand in 2 of my tanks and never had a problem with it. I vaccum the surface of it every other week(20-30%water change every week) and i stir it up gently once a month.

there is a good chance the betta will get territorial. I had this problem in a 10g. Had a betta in there, introduced 3 tetras and quickly removed the betta for the sake of the tetras. He flared his fins and chaced them around relentlessly.

With 30% water changes a week that would be a reasonable bioload for a 15g. If it was my tank I'd skip the betta and add a ram -- bolivian (preferred) or a german ram.

I don't like to mix SA and Asian fish...

I would add 4 cories, 5 if they are the smaller peppered or spoted ones. The more cories the happier they will be. The 15 isn't much different than the 10 in which I keep 3 of the guys but 4 would be better. My betta would chase and flare at my white clouds when they were kept together but that would last for a minute or so and everyone would calm down. As long as there is no biting then it should be fine.

I put a male betta in my 55 gallon and he chased the platy's and mollies around. I added a female betta thinking he would be more occupied with trying to show off but he would corner her and beat her up so I removed him, then the female started killing fish in the night. I had blamed it on my fast paced giant danio's and was almost to remove them when I got up in the middle of the night and found my female betta had a guppy pinned to the bottom thrashing him so out she came.
