Today i went to austin, TX to watch my high school basketball teams state final game. they lost and got 4th in the state of texas for class AA. so after the game, i figured i would go see River City Aquatics. i had looked at their website, and they had a nice selection of cichlids, so i had to go check them out. i saw discus, fahaka pufferfish (for $30!!!), a full grown tropheus colony and massive emperor cichlids for the first time. it was awsome. i had went there to get a few Ctenochromis horei, but i was dissapointed since they only had 1, and it was a female. the guy that was there was pretty cool, we BSed about fish for awhile, and custom tanks as well as what it would cost to get some species brougProxy-Connection: keep-alive Cache-Control: max-age=0 into the store.

so after a while of taking in all the sights of the fish, i deceded it was time to buy, i was tempted to buy a 2 inch calvus they had for $19. but something else caught my eye, it was just kinda laying on the sand, i asked what it was. it was a full grown male enantiopus melanogenys. he was real dul, and was brought in as a trade in. he was regular price $65. but the other fish in the tank had him real beat up and in bad shape, so i got him for $20.

brought him home, moved some fish around and now he is in with my cyps. he is already looking better and is actually swimming all over the tank. hes about 5 inches long and enjoys the company of the cyps. ill upload some pictures when his color starts to return, he has faint blues and yellows at the moment

im watching him as i type, he just started sifting the sand and is running it through the gill rakes, its awsome. he doesnt seem to like my E cyanostictus though, he chases it away from the pellets that i droped in, it really seems to like the dainichi foods.

i think he may have gill flukes or some other parasite on him, he tends to flash against a particular rock every now and again, should i treat? and if so, what should i treat with?

surprisingly he isnt really weak anymore, hes constantly swimming around, he goes up on the occation and swims with the cyps, and than sifts some sand through his gills before repeating. he eats vigorously, and his color is almost back, his fins are a little nipped up but its no big deal, there isnt any sign of infection, he hasnt flashed any since that once last night, i did a water change last night as well.

I would just wait on meds. Also be sure to cover the tank well. I bought 9 kilesa a little over a year ago and lost 5 to jumpers. I even thought I had it decently covered.

Breeders in Pittsburgh. I don't think he has any available right now, plus shipping would be outrageous.
