Hi! I'm fairly new to the science of aquariums but have finally reached the stage of being able to keep fish alive and quite well!:thm: I am insatiable in learning all I can about the fish I have and hope to slowly expand my experience as well.

Currently I have 2 tanks, one with 8 guppies, and one with 9 zebra danios, 4 goldfish, 2 chinese algae eaters, and 2 snails. I'm working on having guppy babies and being able to raise some danios. Maybe they can go out in my mom's pond this summer!

The tank with 8 guppies, give it about another 6 months, and you will likely have 800 guppies !! They usually breed like crazy. Have fun with your new hobby.

Well that's one of the reasons I'm on here, I have the guppy tank pretty full of plants (all fake - one thing at a time :) ). Will I still need to remove the adult guppies after the babies are born or are the babies smart enough to hide? I have 8 kids (my 3 and some others) waiting expectantly for the guppies to be born and I think they would all be pretty upset if the babies all got eaten.

Also, I live in the northern california high desert. Our summers are very warm but the nights get pretty cool. Will guppies survive outside or are they not a good fish to try?

Welcome to AC!
