My serpae tatras developed very quickly after I put them into my tank white trim of their fins - the large one on the bottom of the body going towards the tail (sorry I am not fih anatomy expert). It's like the end of the fin (about 1/2 mm) is bleached. I have seen the serpaes in several shops and it seems quite common in the shops around here. I have especially picked the fish in a shop which did not show this - just to be disapointend when it came up in my tank. It's not getting worse and I do not think it bothers the fish - they seem to be doing quite well I am just trying to figure out if I can do anything about it.

My water is: pH 6.9-7.0 GH 9 KH 6 NH4 0 NO2 0 NO3 never above 10 26deg C (I guess 80 F).

2 of mine have this and two don't. I think it may be a male/female characteristic but I wouldn't worry about it. mine have been this way for a long while and no problems. They're nippy as ever, KYle

Hmm, I thought it not something to worry much about. My fish looks perfectly happy too - spend most of the time disputing who is the boss.
