I was curious about the gph on my Magnum 350. I have quick disconnect valves, and was wondering if I could use those to adjust my flow rate in terms of decreasing it a bit. Would this hurt the motor/shorten pump life? If it does, then its not worth doing. I was just looking to cut the flow rate a little bit because it is only running on a 36 gal. tank (overkill, but no need to upgrade w/ bigger tank!)

Hey fresh,
I have a magnum 350 and I do control the flow rate with my disconnect valves. I haven't noticed any problems with the motor yet but it has only been a short while. Maybe we should e-mail Marineland and ask them...

I just e-mailed Marineland about using the double disconnect valve to regulate the flow rate of the Magnum. If you are interested the web address is: techhelp@marineland.com. I can e-mail you their reply if you are interested.

Go ahead and post their reply publicly. I too would be interested in what they say.

Yeah, might as well post it, everyone here is info hungry :)

Good move on dropping an email to tech support. The manual says you can turn the valve shut slightly if you have running noise from the water. That is not the problem, just wondered if I could control the flow volume a bit ;)

Any reply from Marineland Matpat?
