Since they need to periodically breathe air, I wonder if they can drown. The reason why I'm asking is my son found one of my cories stuck belly-up between the back of the tank and an air tubing. I thought the cory was dead but when my son moved the tubing, he came back to life.

I don't know, but if there is a dumb place in a tank that a fish would have to do something incredibly stupid to exploit it, that fish would certainly be a cory.... :D

Yeah. I have no idea how a fish can possibly get stuck between the thin air tubing and the tank!

One of my silly baby cories got himself stuck in an empty snail shell. All I could see was a piece of his tail moving. I had to break the shell piece by piece until I could get him out.

Not the brightest in the fish world, but they certainly are funny. I don't think they can drown, though.

I don't THINK they can drown, like a brig snail or a lungfish would...but I wouldn't put money on that bet. MsJinkzd might know, she has owned a loooooooooot of cories.

They get stuck every where in the tank and as long as a corycat can't swim backward so i think it go upside dawn trying to free itself :D

My husband calls my corys the "Hiya fish" because whenever you walk over to the tank, they all go psycho and seem to be saying "Hiya! Hiya! Feed me! Hiya!"

I have a 1.5" albino I call Adolph, the only fish I have ever named. He is nuts, just totally and completely bonkers. So much character, Puts more miles in than all the others combined and when he swims he wags his head twice as much as his tail.
I imagine a cory would find every way imaginable to get into a fix.

I did some research. Yes, cories will drown if they can't inhale air for a long time.

They're not labyrinth, but they do absorb oxygen by swallowing air...
