So i unknowingly bought the infamous seaclone before i found this website and have had nothing but problems with it. I had it working decent yesterday with some really good skimmate. Now today i come home from work and i have no foam, no bubbles nothing and the pump is hardly putting out any water. Its like the pump itself is failing. It doesnt have enough power to even produce enough bubbles. Seeing that I am flat broke and cant afford a new skimmer... what can i do? I have seen the DIY stuff for the sea clones but I dont own a dremel and dont have access to one to cut down the tubes. I could possibly get a different air valve to help, but what can i do to get the pump working properly? Also, everytime I get it adjusted and working good i will get a good 2 days of skimming and then it goes right back to square one and doesnt make foam until I either clean it repeatedly or fiddle with the air valve again and again.
I have a cheapo powerhead from petco sitting around would that pump possibly work better if I rigged that one on??
Please help...lol

Step 1: Buy Gun Powder fine grain
Step 2: purchase cannon ball fuse
Step 3: Fill gunpowder into the Sea Clone and put fuse in silicon the fuse hole.
Step 4: light fuse and run for cover.
Serious tip:
Test your water regularly and be ready to change water more frequent is all you can do till you can buy a better skimmer.
Reef octopus and CPR make some fairly cheap and well made skimmers if you search in the future. There are others but im not here to write a list.
Lightly feed.... and just change water more frequently or in larger volume for now.

I have a vertex in-100 and it is well worth the price they are selling it for.

I used many Seaclones on small independent tanks for over 10 yrs. ALthough I agreed it could be PIB to fine tune Seaclone from time to time, but eventually I found to learn how to fine tune without casuing big mess.
And it worked well for while. Even other expensive skimmers do need some maintenance thus at this point I will continue to use it (better than no skimmer) until you to find the right balance or better simmer is avail.
If you get cupful of skimmate in ond day, such skimmate is not true mud skimmate and I am assuming you have not found the right balance yet. If your skimmate is mostly brown water, it is not true true skimmate, imo.
Cut down or open the valve to slow down flow of water a tiny tiny bit (fine fine tuning is required with Seaclone). I know this maybe frustrating in the beginning but you should be able to fine tnue it down the road.
Even with Seaclone , My skimmiate would be mostly mud (enough to to be used as Mud Pack?? LOL!) with really funky odor but never full skimmate overnight unless increase bioload tremendously to a point that the whole tank can crash overnight.
