I just bought a couple of these for my Betta tank today. The person at the store didn't know anything about them. Am I supposed to feed them or care for them any specific way?
Thanks for the input. :)

About the toughest plant out there. They will do fine under almost any light, and don't need supplements. More light and more food will give you more growth, but they will be OK even under a regular single fluorescent striplight.

So I do have to feed them. What do I feed them? I'm completely new to this whole real plant thing. :(

Really? I just put them in the gravel and that's it?? Wow, that is easy! :D

You don't even need to do that. You can attach them to a rock, piece of driftwood or whatever.

java fern will grow on anything. its roots will attach to an object later on. dont worry so much. there's an easy side of the hobby and this is it. the hard part is learning that.
What I did was to find some nice sized flat stones (about 2 inches in diameter) and tied java moss on them. Now they have completely spread within each of the stones and I can move them (including the stone) between tanks or even within the tank easily without any mess.

Ooh, that's a great idea! Thank you! :D
You could put a java fern in a bowl of gasoline and it would probably grow new sprouts.
it grows on waterfalls in the wild, the roots do nothing but help it stick to things, i have one in my shower, just kidding
