Ok I just bought a 55G tank with stand and canopy, which came with a wet/dry filtration system, for $100 off criagslist. My friend has a 125G with africans (his tank is the reason why I got a tank but don't want africans - too aggressive). I went to the local pet store (Foster's)and I bought 4 angels, 2 pearl gouramis, 2 gouramis with small red lines going up and down on them, 2 gouramis that are half red, 2 sharks (black with silver strips back to front), and 1 fancy guppy. I got another fancy guppy and 2 hatchets from another store as well. The more I read the more nervous I get. I was told they should all live in harmony but I have also been hearing the gouramis will eat at the angels' fins and also being told they will dominate the top of the tank and starve the ones on the bottom. What do you guys think and how should I work them out. I also just bought 75lb of flagstone rock and put that in and I plan on getting some plants (not sure if i am going to go with plastic or real) so if it's a territory issue, that might help. Any ideas or if you just have some general knowledge I have open ears to everything anyone wants to share concerning this.:1zhelp:

I am sure people with much more experience than mine will come to answer your question, ut here is my experience, Most of times i am keeping gouramis with angels i mean lue gouramies and as i know it is the worse of the group, And they are doing fine, I never had a pair of gourami with angels it is always a male or a female and it is doing fine and mostly they ignore each others, Anyway angels can be trained to feed from the bottom ( mine do that all the time) It seems that you have dwarf gouramies and they are so peaceful by nature my concern is what you call (sharks)
Do they look like this one?

The sharks that you have are pangasius ( Pangasius hypophthalmus)
I don't like them myself but people say they are peaceful in general but they will get really large

Good luck with your tank
