I bought some kind of Fern from pets mart and it is not doing well. So i was wondering if it should be out of the gravel and tied to something like a Java Fern?

I don't think it's an underwater fern. I've looked at Petsmart for Bolbitis, but all they had was java fern and this other fern that had a scientific name I'd never seen before. I think that's what you got. Did it come in those tubes? If so, you can google the scientific name on the label and see what you get. Good luck with it (whatever it happens to be)!!

I already threw the tube away so i guess i will just pull them out and get some new ones that i know are for underwater.

It looks like Trichomanes javanicum.

I purchased the same plant from PetSmart. I have mine stuck in a hole in my bog log and it is doing ok, slow growth. I don't remember the name either but I think it might be Bolbitis or something like it.

Definitely not bolbitis.

I believe the common name is the borneo fern. It is actually a terrestrial fern and will slowly rot underwater.

As some have mentioned, that's Trichomanes javanicum, sold under the common names of Aqua Fern and Borneo Fern.

The tubed Amazon Swords are true aquatics, as are the Wisteria, Ozelot Sword, Tropica Fern (Java Fern) and Compacta (Hygrophila). The rest I believe are non-aquatics.

Just watch out for Spathiphyllum sp. It is a terrestrial plant often sold as a sword plant.
