Does anyone else have these?

I wanted some ghost shrimp from the LFS awhile back but all he carries are "baby prawns". They looked just like ghost shrimp but now they're getting bigger and starting to have more color. I researched the distributor and found out that they are Macrobrachium rosenbergii (http://rmbr.nus.edu.sg/biodiversitii/bio/images/c16.jpg), which definitely get WAY too big for a 10-gallon with dwarf puffers!! I've got 5 of them in there right now and they're still really small. Was just wondering how common these are and if anyone else gets them.

Here's the distributor the LFS gets them from: http://county.ces.uga.edu/habersham/aqua/upstrom.htm

That is the creepiest lookin' thing I've ever seen! Looks like "The Tingler" from the old Vincent Price B-movie! I don't know if I could sleep with that in my house!!

Huh, I'm amazed the puffers never ate them in the beginning, they like shellie foods.

Closest I have is a blue crayfish... bigger body eventually, smaller claws...

They are aquacultured, and do appear in the trade periodically. They are fascinating beasts. I kept one to maturity some years back, but the 50 was too small to maintain it indefinitely.

If you can arrange the tank space (solitary, with a BIG cave for molt), it is one specimen you will never forget. I am seriously considering restarting one of the big tanks just to keep another one. My wife would be less than thrilled, but it would be kept in the fish room, not out on display.
