I currently have a 29 gallon tank planted with a Coralife fixture. It has 2 T-5 bulbs, one colormax, one 6,700k. The wattage on each bulb is 18, so that gives me a whopping total of 36 watts of 29 gallons. I am looking for a little more light. Nothing to the point of needing CO2. The only think I have been able to grow well in my tank is Crypts, swords and Rotala Indica. But even those are slow, live extremely slow. Lately it's been really bad, I have tried to keep higher light plants like Alternate Reineikie, ludwigia Ovalis, I know I spelled both horrible. But the stems always die near the roots and the leaves get holey. Can someone suggest a better fixture that isn't going to need CO2. Or is there a better bulb combo to use with my current fixture. I would add though that my fish look great in the tank but I don't know how much of that is coming from the colormax bulb.

Would this be a good light or is it to much to little light for non CO2?

I thought this would get responded to quicker. The main question is just how much wattage can I get away with on a 29 gallon without CO2. Options I have found so far are 48 watts, 65 watts, and 62 watts. Are any of these ok?

I used a 2x24W nova extreme fixture on my 29. I had very little algae, without adding any fertilizer or CO2.

The fixture you linked to would light the whole tank more evenly, but might be slightly dimmer because it lacks single lamp reflectors.

I like the looks of the set you linked to.

Also you could just add another exactly like you have.

I used to run 110 watts over my 29, and it grew like a jungle. That and a little pressurized CO2, setup on a timer was great. I would recommend you consider that also, no need for the fancy stuf, just a co2 tank, solenoid/valve and some co2 proof airline tubing. It was attached to my light timer so everything came on and off at the same time.

Thanks guys, Kens fish has a single bulb 65 watt coralife for like half the price. Is 65 watts going to be to much without CO2?

Should be fine. I would give it a shot if it was me.

Also if you find it is too much you can always put a window screen on the bottom of the light to filter a little bit out.
