Just finished the first trimming I've done on my planted 5 gal hex. It's amazing how fast the ludwigia grows under the 10 watt light in this hood. I took all the clippings and replanted them, so lets see if the tank has enough power to keep up with twice as many plants in the same area. The tank has no co2 or ferts. Just the stock light, but the stock light has a reflector on it, which I think helps a vast amount. I found a 15 watt screw type bulb, but it doesn't fit in the fixture without touching the sides, so I may find a 15 watt tubular if the plants start to look bad.
Stock is about 10 or 12 guppies, only one adult, the rest are all her babies. I'll move them to another tank when they get bigger, and probably put a dwarf gourami in with 3 female guppies in the end.
Plants are two bunches of red ludwigia on either side, a corkscrew val in the middle behind the fake driftwood, a micro sword in front, and some random plant that I don't know the name of in the back, I just know it was cheap and big and I needed a background plant, and an anubias somewhere in the back.
2nd shot is the tank about a month ago before the second batch of ludwigia, 1st shot is today.
