Gold ram with torn caudal fin

I got a gold ram from the LFS the other day. His caudal fin seems to be chewed up pretty good and looked like it might have an infection of some sort setting in. I have been treating with melafix and it seems to be working so far. My question is will his caudal fin grow back to what it once was. The split in the caudal fin has already healed but the edges are still ragged.

Let me know what you think, and here are some pics taken the day I brought him home.

Yes, with lots and lots of clean water, it's tail should grow back to it's original splendor.

Yea I am running @ 0 A 0 Nitrite and and probably 15 nitrate ATM.... tomorrow is waterchange day. I can already see where it is healing, just wondering about the rough edges.
