new to the hobby and the forum.

so far i have a 37 gallon with 3 red wag platys (2f:1m), 4 peppered corys, and two female guppies. thinking of adding an angel, betta, or gourami as a centerpiece eventually.
just started a 55 gallon with 5 panda corys and 5 buenos aires tetra. going to add another shoal once it is cycled (xray tetra or rasbora). hoping to add kribs to this once it is cycled and maybe another dwarf cichlid.

any advice on these potential setups is appreciated.

Welcome! It looks like you're on the right track with your setups. Are you doing fish-in cycling on the 55 then? If so, make sure to do water changes at least every-other day and watch your parameters.

Kribs are great fish and should be fine with the other stocking you have listed. Just make sure that you give them a place to claim. They like to hold a territory like a rock stack, cave, etc. If your tank is planted, or well decorated you could get a couple of males, just make sure that you have "homes" for them on opposite sides of the tank and when you feed, put food on both sides. They particularly love frozen blood worms and frozen brine shrimp, and they'll guard a pile of them if you let it get down to the bottom of the tank. It was fun to watch my rams sneak up behind him and snag a few when he wasn't looking. The one I had never bothered the corys, but he did have a problem with a bamboo shrimp that led to him getting an infection that I didn't treat in time.

One thing to keep in mind with tetras is that if you get a couple of different ones with similar body types, they can school up together periodically (i.e black neons and glow-lights), and it can look really nice in the tank.
