I have a calvus pair bond forming on the left side of my 55 and there may be some spawning going on as the female is in the shell and the male has been hanging out at the mouth of the shell. The female also did not come out to feed today. A few more days of that pattern and fry may be just around the corner :)

Here's a few pics of the BCWP from the past couple weeks.

Thanks guys :)

Yes, austin, they are a very cool fish.
#1) They are basically a "large" shellie; so, you have all the shellie behaviors: claiming a shell, defending it and spawning in it.

#2) Their sides are armored so when an aggressor attacks, they turn their sides to them to fend off an attack.

#3) They move about the tank in a really cool way - they go vertical and sideways a lot.

Be warned: they don't move around as much compared with Malawi cichlids. They focus their energy on maintaining a territory (which often revolves around the shell).

Hey Pitt, you keep alots, got anything to add?

Hope that helps!
