This will be my first post here, so introductions may be in order.
i've been keeping fish for about 12 years now. my current setup is a 48 gallon bow front tank with a Fluval 305 canister filter. My current occupants are 4 feather tipped cat fish, 1 Raphael cat, a sunburst cat a large common pleco and 5 silver dollars. i've recently added 2 bamboo plants to brighten things up, but i'm having a very hard time keeping them planted with all the bottom dwellers constantly bumping into them.
i tried adding 2 gold gourami to the mix, but the local pet super-store fish didn't hold up. they got sick and died within 2 days. maybe they didn't like my water, which i find odd because i just added the 5 silver dollars about 2 weeks ago and they're doing great. so really, i think they were in poor health to begin with and the stress of moving pushed them over the top. i've got to look around a bit to try to find out what it was that killed them. i've never seen this kind of thing in my tank before. they looked like they got beat up, all bruised looking. then they got pale and quickly passed on from there.
