hello everyone,i bought a penguin 330 for my 55 gal. tank...also got a penguin power sponge filter [powerhead with sponge sleeve] its rated at 170 gph...thought it would be a good ideal for more macanical+bio. question is i wanted to add maybe a small aquaclear or another power sponge on other side of tank to avoid died spots......which one should i use????would this be to much filtretion...any suggestions.......by the way its a ciclid tank with no plants.....t.i.a

Depending on what kind of load you have in the tank you can either add an AC 200 or 300 which would provide you with plenty of filtration or maybe just add a power head to where you think your dead spots might be athough in a 55 you more than likely wont have any in my experience.

If your using a powerhead your probably geting pretty good circulation in the tank...and if your getting good circulation your one filter will be fine in most cases. I have 2 AC 300s on my 55, and when i put the second one on, i didnt notice a difference in water quality...ill probably take the extra one off and put it to better use. Why the want for a second filter??
