How difficult is it to set up a terrarium or a paludariums? The reason I ask is because I have an empty 30 gallon tall tank. I was wondering if that would be a good tank to set up a terrarium or paludarium?

+1 Easier and less maintenence. Systems though can be as expensive or cheap as you want them.

For example my 125 Gallon Terrarium is floating around $600 in costs to set up. But it's a little different than your run-of-the-mill Terrarium.

Best wishes

Wes

Be sure to plan extensively. I was reading a thread on another forum and the guy had I think a Rainbow or Iridescent Shark in a half filled 10 gallon.

+1 Indeed Plan and research everything as far as possible and even then continue to research there still may come a better way.

Best wishes,

Wes

If I do set up a paludarium in my 30 tall tank, I'll probably only keep a few guppies in it or maybe a tree frog or two.

search "paludarium" on here, there are some incredible threads where the creator goes through, with photos, every step of the way. I usually find them because somebody else found one from months or years back, from before I joined, and posted a new comment on it. Like for instance this one from Mellowvision. :)

Forget where I saw it (could have been here, or plantedtank.net, or someplace else) but somebody put together a topless palu where the animals in the above-water part were a pair of finches. Absolutely knock your socks off. There are some phenomenally creative artists posting here.

Its like asking, ''how long is a piece of string''. There are soo many ways and ideas of setting one up. It can be as simple or as complex as you want.

I pretty sure you're talking about this thread http://www.aquariacentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=110988&page=11

When ever I feel good about what I've accomplished I look at that thread to humble myself

LOL, yup 2brown, that's the one. I reread it occasionally for the exact reason you mention. And the fact that it's like a free tour of the Metropolitan Museum of Art or the like, just to have the opportunity to gaze upon something so beautiful. :)
