I was @ my local PetSmart today and came across this Cichlid in their Assorted African Cichlid tank. Can anyone tell me what type of Cichlid this is?
I didn't buy any of them because I figured I'd find out what it was first. :)
Sorry the picture is a bit blurry. I didn't have my camera with me so I had to use the camera on my phone.

It's hard to say for sure at that size but I beliebe the orange on is a red zebra, Metriaclima estherae, and the blue ones are cobalt blue zebras, Metriaclima callainos.
If you want to get mbuna I think you should do a lot of research first. What size tank are you looking for?
Mbuna can be really nasty and some of the commonly sold ones are very aggressive.

I was hoping to house just one cobalt blue zebra in a twenty gallon.
I'm assuming he'll get about 5 inches or so?

You technically could but he won't be very happy. Mbuna do best with other mbuna in at least a 55 gallon. Many times when housed alone they hide and do not display their natural behaviors.

Well that doesn't sound too fun for me or him and I know two in a 20 gallon would just be a disaster in the end.
Thanks for the info!
