dwarf mexican died during multing

hi guys,
my mex. female entered a small tube i put in the tank (prob. to molt)
i found here lying on her back.
it`s been 2 days now and i saw today that she`s dead (one of her pincers fell off)
do u add anything to the water to help the molting?
anyone had dwarf mex. dying during the molt?

But to answer your question:
Crayfish don't get the calcium they need from foods. They absorb all they need via the water column so having enough KH in your water is a must. Also, the age of your cray was not mentioned. I bring this up because older crays, at the end of their lifespans, tend to die in the moulting process--at least that has been my experience with the dwarfs more so than the normal sized crayfish.

Something that may also be helpful is to provide some specifics about your tank that your cray was in such as tank-mates, stocking levels, substrate used and normal water parameters. Probably wouldn't be anything glaring with respect to any of the above--but one never knows. I am sorry for your loss too. I love my crays and it always sucks to loose one.

tap water here is quite hard...
how do u know the age of your crays?
