Recently I began adding Seachem Equilibrium with my water changes. My GH increased to 9 or 10, but now, five days later, it seems to be at 11. If the plants are absorbing the Ca and Mg, shouldnt the GH be dropping? Thanks.

what and when are you testing. are you testing your gh after a w/c to be sure the tank is where you want it or before and guessing from there?

if you're not topping off with distilled water before w/c's you can expect your gh to rise. 9 or 10 is not necessary afaik. i shoot for ~5 and some think that's on the high side.

do you have decor that could be adding to your gh? texas holy rock would be one that's pretty popular that would do it. anything with degrading shells in the water?

I dose Seachem Equilibrium during my weekly 30% WC, after which GH measures around 10 or so. I use my tap water, which measure aroung 5 GH, and 4 or 5 had also been my pre-Equilibrium GH for some time. It just seems to me that if the CA and Mg was being used by my plants, then the GH should drop, much like N or P readings would if not continually supplemented.
