I got a tortoise... now what?

My stepmom brought home a toroise from her work and i dont know how to take care of them. his shell is about 4.5" wide and about 5.5" long. right now hes in a sterilite container thats 16" wide, 23" long and 6" high. should he have bark in there or something? i was also thinking sand since toroises are from the desert right?

Any help is greatly appreciated :)
 
this probably should be in the reptile terrarium set up, do you happen to know what type of tortoise it is by any chance?

personally i don't know much about caring for them but i did find this web site which is seems to have some good info .

either take a pic or identify it via comparison.. we can't tell you much without a positive ID.
