Anyone Notice the New Electric Blue Johannis?

So I was at a local box store that rymes with GetSmart. And as usual I wondered over to their fish to check things out. They had a sign saying they had new fish called electric blue johannis. I was excited at first because I thought that meant they had mainganos. Well not so much. They are regular johannis, at least I thiknk they are. They were the ugliest fish I had ever seen! They looked like a badly bred auratus. All the females had black stripes and this brown/yellow coloring. The males looked mostly brown/black/purple. Bleck.

Needless to say I was disappointed. Though I haven't had much luck with mbuna from this place. I was curious if any other stores had picked up these "gems"
 
What you say is interesting Blue; because the females M. johannii do not have black stripes. So, maybe they were young males changing colors or if females, then these fishes are johanni-maingano hybrids or something like that.

In my experience with these big box stores, most things they label as electric blue tend to be hybrids. the bars tend to be way too zigzag and unclean. guess there was a batch of really crappy ones u saw, lol
