Some places on the web tell me no, but I wanted to check with some of the resident MTS enthusiasts before added them to another one of my tanks.

They will eat decaying parts of a plant but not the plant themselves. I have them and they primarily stay in the substrate. They prefer uneaten fish food to plants.

Where you say that "they prefer uneaten fish food to plants" is that foolproof? I mean I don't want them to starve or it just a matter of if they do munch on the plants I know they aren't getting enough food?

When I said they prefer uneaten food to plants I meant the decaying parts of the plants. If there are dying plant leaves in the tank they will eat that, but as soon as some uneaten fish food hits the substrate that's where they will go. :)

Mine have never eaten the healthy parts of the plant.

Cool, well they will be spreading throughout some of my tanks then cause I have sooo many in my 5 gallon. Thanks for the help! Mods can close since question was answered.
